Abstract𓀜:

Fluid interfacial phenomenon and heat transfer of two-phase fluids system in space becomes more interesting and important research subjects of fluid physics in microgravity environment, due to its relative engineering applications in space explorations such as the management systems of fluids and heats in space, and no very well understanding of the fundamental phenomena of interfacial thermal-dynamics in space, such as interfacial flow with phase change and heat transfer behaviours in microgravity condition. The present presentation will give an overview of theoretical and experimental studies on the interfacial-tension and thermal-capillary driven flow instabilities, thermodynamic effects at phase-changed interface in evaporation and condensation and fluid management in space, in our work of past twenty years. The future space experiments onboard the china spacecrafts, such as SJ10 scientific satellite and TZ-1 cargo spacecraft, respectively. And new scientific research programs of the two-phase system on future China Space Station will be given briefly in the frame of China’s Manned Space Engineering Program – “Flow and Heat Transfer Research in Two- Phase System Applied in Space”.

Brief Biography:

Dr. Qiusheng LIU is director researcher of Institute of Mechanics of CAS and chair professor of School of Engineering Sciences at University of Chinese Academy of Sciences (UCAS, China). He got Ph.D. degree of Fluid Mechanics at Universite Aix-Marseille II (Marseille, France) in 1994. His research field is fluid physics in space including the microgravity fluid mechanics, two-phase fluids and heat transfer, space fluid management and relative space experimental techniques. He carried out first microgravity space experiment of China in 1999, and he is now chief scientist for several space experiment projects (SJ10-A1-1, TZ-1, TPhaSR-CSS et al.). He has more than published papers in the SCI-index Journals including Physical Review E (PRE), Physics of Fluid, Journal of Fluid Mechanics (JFM), International Journal of Heat & Mass Transfer etc.. He has received several awards: Outstanding Workers Award of China Manned Space Engineering of CAS (2004), Second Grade Award of Science and Technology Progress of Chinese Academy of Sciences (2001), “Hundred Talents Program” of Chinese Academy of Sciences (1998) and Outstanding Teachers Award “Zhuliyuehua” of CAS (2013). He is now president of China National Society of Microgravity Science and Application (NSMSA), standing director of the Chinese Society on Space Research (CSSR) and deputy editor in chief of Chinese Journal of Space Science.
