报告摘要(Abstract): Research activities conducted within the Cryogenics Laboratory in the Accelerators, Cryogenics and Magnetism Division at CEA-Saclay will be presented. The CEA Saclay cryogenics research programs are mostly tied to the development of cooling systems for superconducting magnets developed and constructed for different projects in the domain of high energy physics for several laboratories worldwide. This presentation will cover the study of heat transfer in superfluid helium in confined geometry for the cooling of accelerator magnets, helium and nitrogen two-phase flow in natural circulation loops for the cooling of large detector magnets and the recent advancements in the field of cooling with cryocoolers with the development of two-phase thermal links in helium and nitrogen.

报告人简介(Brief Biography):Dr. Bertrand Baudouy received his PhD in fluid mechanics from the Pierre and Marie Curie University (University of Paris VI) in Paris in 1996 on the heat and mass transfer in superfluid helium through the insulation of the superconducting LHC magnets. He is currently the head of the Cryogenics R&D activities at the Accelerators, Cryogenics and Magnetism Division of CEA. His research activities, primarily experimental, concern the low temperature heat and mass transfer related to the cooling methodology of superconducting magnets or other cryo-magnetic systems. Currently, his work focuses on heat transfer and fluid dynamics of liquid helium from superfluid to normal two-phase regime as well as other cryogens. He is involved in the development of natural circulation loop using different cryogens, heat and mass transfer in confined geometry (micro-channels and porous media), modeling of superfluid helium heat transfer and the thermal properties of materials. He is a twice recipient of the Best Paper Award from the Elsevier international journal Cryogenics for which he serves as the European editor since 2012.
